The Evening Standard have revealed terrible news for David Luiz on Tuesday.
Luiz has struggled at Stamford Bridge this season. After initially being dropped by Antonio Conte, the Brazilian has been sidelined for months with injury issues.
Sadly for David Luiz his season could now be over. It’s been confirmed that Luiz has suffered yet another setback in his comeback.
David Luiz has two injury issues
As reported in the Evening Standard, David Luiz has two problems:
Chelsea have suffered a major blow with the news that David Luiz is going to be ruled out for another month with knee and ankle injuries.
The club had hoped the Brazil international was close to making a full recovery, but he has suffered a setback. Luiz now faces a struggle to get match fit and back in the side before the end of the campaign.
The fears now are that 30-year-old Luiz is suffering from chronic injury problems. The defender is under contract with Chelsea until 2019.
This season Luiz has made 16 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, scoring twice.
Barcelona vs Chelsea
On March 14 Chelsea head to Barcelona for their Champions League last 16 second-leg.
Barcelona scored a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge to put them in a the box seat in the tie.
Barcelona are sweating on the fitness of Andres Iniesta before the Chelsea game.
Iniesta, who bagged the assist for Leo Messi in the first-leg, suffered a hamstring strain last weekend in La Liga against Atletico Madrid.
Philippe Coutinho is banned from playing for Barca in the Champions League this season as he’s previously featured for Liverpool.
If Iniesta is out, Barcelona could field Paulinho or Andre Gomes in his place.
