Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham reflects on his ‘phenomenal’ 2019/20 campaign

Abraham’s 2019/20

The 2019/20 campaign saw a host of Chelsea youth products handed the chance to shine by new boss Frank Lampard.

Amongst these youngsters was Tammy Abraham, who had previously managed a grand total of 74 minutes for the club’s senior side before this past season.

Despite his limited experience with the Blues, though, Abraham was tasked, for the most part, with being Chelsea’s number one source of goals by Lampard.

And though the England international endured a couple of rough patches during the season, Abraham still proved a pretty solid performer for the Londoners.

The hitman scored 15 and assisted four in 34 Premier League outings, as well as bagging three goals and one assist in eight Champions Legate ties.

Abraham reflects on first full Chelsea season

Abraham’s final goal of the 2019/20 season came on Saturday evening vs Bayern Munich.

The Blues were comprehensively beaten 4-1 by the German powerhouse, with Abraham’s strike having proven nothing more than a consolation.

As such, now, with Chelsea’s season officially over, Abraham has been reflecting on his first full year in the club’s colours.

And the 22-year-old seems altogether very pleased with his campaign, going as far as to claim that it was ‘phenomenal’:

“It’s been a phenomenal season for myself and the lads.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better season. I have had a few niggles here and there, but I have come out stronger and now I have to build myself for next season and start well and end well. That’s my aim. I have to raise my bar and go again.

“This is Chelsea Football Club. There is always going to be high standards and competition. I have to fight for my spot, it’s never going to come easy. It never came easy at the start of this season, but I worked my way into the team and that’s what I have got to keep doing.”
