A somewhat-baffling statistic surrounding Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden and Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been garnering plenty of attention online this evening, on the back of the former’s winning goal versus Tottenham.
City emerge victorious
Pep Guardiola’s Citizens welcomed Spurs to the Etihad earlier today, in the first of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures.
The clash marked a crucial one in both the race for the English top-flight title, and the battle for a top-4 spot.
As such, on the back of visitors Spurs having ousted City from the Champions League during the week, there was an added air of tension around the hosts’ stadium ahead of kick-off.
When the 90 minutes were said and done, though, the champions held their nerve, to eventually emerge with a 1-0 win.
Phil Foden bagged the only goal of the clash, nodding home with 5 minutes on the clock to send his side back above Liverpool to the summit of the Premier League table.
25 – Manchester City have won 25 home games in all competitions this season, the most they’ve ever won in a single campaign and the most by a top-flight club since Man Utd in 2010-11 (26). Determined. #MCITOT pic.twitter.com/H3qgUmmtdO

Foden matches Salah
Foden’s winner, which came on his first-ever league start for City, has since seen a bizarre statistic, comparing the production of the English youngster with that of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, emerge online.
As showcased below, in finding the net today, Foden took his tally versus the Premier League’s top-6 this season to 1 goal.
And, much to the amusement of fans not of a Liverpool persuasion, this also happens to be the same number of goals that Mohamed Salah has managed versus his side’s top-6 rivals to this point in the campaign:
