Dele Alli & Harry Kane after 2nd goal vs Swansea

Strong warning issued ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Tottenham

Top four

Chelsea boss Anotnio Conte has made it very clear he thinks the game against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend could decide their fate when it comes to the top four.

He noted that a win would move Chelsea closer to their London rivals – and they’d only be two points behind them, meaning the race for the Champions League would be very much on.

However, if they fail to win, the gap would either grow or remain the same, and then with games running out, the Blues would struggle to reach the top four for the second time in three seasons.

“If we win, we go very close to Tottenham,” The Express report Conte said. “Otherwise, it will be difficult to take a place in the Champions League.

“Nothing is impossible. But we have to win every game, not make mistakes, and not drop points in this final run of the season.

“Our target for this final stretch is to take a place in the Champions League and reach the final of the FA Cup, and then try and win it. These must be our targets.”

Kane

One thing that Chelsea are boosted by is the absence of Harry Kane, who is still missing through injury, and it’s certainly something Conte thinks can help his side – yet he was careful to say he thinks the club have enough top players and a manager who can guide them to victory without the man he called one of the best forwards in the world.

“We are talking about one of the best strikers in the world. When you have a striker who scores 30 goals every season, for sure when he’s missing you feel it.

“But Tottenham have many talented players. They play good football with great intensity. In the past, they showed that, despite Kane missing games, that did not change.

“We are talking about a great team, a really good manager, many talented players in this team. I have great respect for Tottenham. In these last few years, they have grown a lot. Now they are one of the best teams in England.”
