Bojan Krkic, record breaker
A few weeks ago we looked into how Bojan Krkic’s loan move from Stoke to Mainz was going.
Back in January, several clubs including Middlesbrough were linked with a move for Bojan, but in the end the 26-year-old opted to try his luck in the Bundesliga.
Unfortunately for the player, Bojan’s first few months at Mainz turned into a complete disaster as the German club lost 5 out of 6 games the Stoke loanee had featured in.
That’s left Mainz in danger of being relegated, however they picked up a huge point on Saturday away at Bayern Munich as they claimed a surprise 2-2 draw.
The match saw Bojan set a new Spanish record.
A future pub quiz question
Bojan started the match at the Allianz Arena on fire as he put Mainz in front after just a few minutes of the game.
That was the former Barcelona man’s first goal in Germany, and it meant he became just the seventh footballer in history to score in Europe’s big four leagues: Germany, England, Spain and Italy.
Other players to have achieved that feat include Florin Raducioiu, Gheorghe Popescu, Obafemi Martins, Pierre Wome and Kevin-Prince Boateng.
Bojan has become the first Spaniard to hit that milestone, and he duly celebrated on Instagram.
