Stoke City have completed the signing of Everton defender Ashley Williams on a season-long loan after the Welshman was exiled from Marco Silva’s squad.
The Welshman has not performed as he would have liked over the past two seasons or so at Everton.
A £10million deal looked to be good business at first but he failed to make the leap up from Swansea and it cost him dearly.
His performances last season left an awful lot to be desired and that was the final straw for Everton fans.
Marco Silva saw the same as they did and after testing him in pre-season, he exiled him from the squad to train with players who are expected to leave.
They come in the form of Nikola Vlasic, Cuco Martina and Kevin Mirallas.
Now, he’s got the move and it comes in the form of Championship side Stoke City.

While there is no doubt that Ashley Williams was not good enough for Everton, he could prove to be a shrewd purchase for Stoke.
Having gone down to the Championship after a poor season last campaign, the club needs some solidity if they are to come back up at the first attempt.
They could have that in Williams who also has experience at that level with Swansea.
With players such as Ryan Shawcross and Ashley Williams in defence and Jack Butland in goal, that is a very positive backbone for a promotion charge.
Whether it works as intended is yet to be seen, but on a season-long loan, there is hardly any risk there.
