Steve Bruce rules Schar & Ritchie out of Newcastle’s clash with Bournemouth

Newcastle vs Bournemouth

Newcastle and Bournemouth are set to go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon.

The North-East outfit go into the tie in a decent bit of form, having seen off West Ham and drawn with Wolves in their last two outings.

But the Magpies are still teetering above the drop zone, and could be right back in the relegation battle, should they lose to Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe’s side ended their mini goal-drought last weekend, when they beat Manchester United 1-0.

The Cherries are currently 7th in the English top-flight, just one point adrift of 5th placed Arsenal.

Bruce on Schar & Ritchie

Prior to facing off with Bournemouth, Steve Bruce held his pre-match press conference on Friday morning.

During the presser, Bruce provided updates on Matt Ritchie and Fabian Schar.

Ritchie has not featured for Newcastle in the league since August 25th, while Schar has missed the North East outfit’s last two league ties.

But, according to Bruce, both stars are still not quite fully ready, and will therefore miss out:

“Matt and Fabian haven’t made it. Unfortunately they’ve still got a bit to do. We don’t think it’s that bad with Fab but Matt’s a little bit of a concern because he was going along so well and unfortunately he’s had a reaction to training.”
