Man United vs Newcastle

Sunday’s Premier League action will draw to a close at Old Trafford, when Manchester United take on Newcastle.

Hosts United head into the tie having notched just one win from their last five league outings.

Such form has seen Manchester City open up a 10-point gap atop the Premier League table, meaning the Red Devils can’t afford to drop any points if they stand any chance of keeping alive their faltering title challenge.

As for Newcastle, their form has been fairly patch of late, with the Geordie outfit having won two and lost three of their last five.

The Magpies, in turn, remain firmly in the relegation scrap, sitting just six points above Fulham at present.

Bruce on Wilson & Schar

Ahead of Sunday’s game, meanwhile, Steve Bruce held his pre-United press conference on Friday.

And, during the presser, the Newcastle boss provided updates on a number of his side’s stars.

First, Bruce confirmed that Fabian Schar has had an operation. The English tactician then stated that the club must be patient with Callum Wilson, who has a muscular problem:

“Fabian Schär has had his operation and Callum Wilson’s is a muscle injury so we have to be patient with him. The one that looks better is Javier Manquillo. He twisted his ankle badly but has responded well to his treatment.”

Bruce also confirmed that Newcastle are hopeful of having Federico Fernandez back in time to face Wolves:
