Newcastle vs Crystal Palace
Newcastle are set to play host to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The Magpies had been in fairly good form of late, but they lost their last league tie 1-0 vs Burnley.
Newcastle will begin Saturday sat 11th in the English top-flight, but a win over Palace could take them up to 8th in the table.
A win over Roy Hodgson’s side, though, may prove a pretty difficult task for Newcastle to accomplish.
The Eagles are unbeaten in their last four Premier League ties, and up to 9th in the table.
Palace could climb as high as 6th with a victory over the North-East outfit.
Bruce gives injury update
Ahead of the Palace tie, Steve Bruce has provided an injury update on his squad.
Newcastle have not had the best of luck with injuries in recent weeks, with several key figures such as Alan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron missing from the Burnley defeat.
However, Bruce has stated that both Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey have a chance of featuring on Saturday.
But Bruce then went on to state that Newcastle will not have Saint-Maximin, Ki Sung-yueng, Ciaran Clark, Jamaal Lascelles or Matt Ritchie for the Palace clash:
“Almirón and Shelvey have a chance.
“It’s still too early for (Allan) Saint-Maximin and Ki (Sung-yueng), and Ciaran Clark is still struggling.
“Matt Ritchie and (Jamaal) Lascelles are not there either, but from what we had last week, Almirón and Jonjo have got a chance.
“They both trained yesterday, so speaking at the moment – we haven’t seen them just yet – they both seemed OK yesterday.” As quoted by Newcastle’s official website.
