Struggles at St. James’

Newcastle are of course currently in the midst of a concerning spell of form.

The Magpies, remarkably, have failed to secure a single victory in any of their last 10 outings across all competitions.

This stretch includes an FA Cup exit at the hands of Arsenal, League Cup defeat to Brentford, and, most worryingly of all, a 1-0 downing at the hands of Premier League basement dwellers Sheffield United – the Blades’ only league win of the campaign to date.

Amid this frankly dismal stretch, meanwhile, it has come as little surprise to see the finger of blame pointed largely at one man.

The individual in question? Steve Bruce.

The vast, vast majority of Newcastle’s fanbase have turned against their side’s boss, with it becoming more evident as the weeks pass that Bruce is simply not the man to lead the Geordie outfit forward.

In turn, pressure has begun to mount for the Englishman to either step down, or be moved on by Mike Ashley.

And, as outlined above, the pressure now appears to be taking its toll on Bruce.

The Magpies boss is due to hold his latest press conference in 24 hours’ time, ahead of his side’s Premier League meeting with Leeds on Tuesday.

As revealed online this evening, however, there will be no written media permitted to attend.

Instead, only radio and broadcast interaction will be allowed, with Bruce and co. evidently feeling as though members of the written media have been overly critical of his efforts of late:
