Spurs team news ahead of Newcastle: Ndombele ruled out, Son back in contention

Tottenham have this afternoon provided a fitness update on the club’s squad, ahead of their meeting with Newcastle this weekend.

Spurs vs Newcastle

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are set to welcome the Magpies to north London on Sunday evening, for the respective sides’ 3rd Premier League outing of the campaign.

The two clubs, though, head into proceedings in altogether-differing form.

Newcastle have, to this point, fallen to consecutive defeats in their first two fixtures of the season.

Spurs, on the other hand, followed a 3-1 comeback win over Aston Villa on opening day with an impressive 2-2 draw at champions Manchester City last time out.

As such, the north Londoners are no doubt set to head into proceedings on Sunday evening brimming with confidence.

Son in/Ndombele out

Tottenham, however, will have to make do without a key performer in their early-season form on Sunday evening.

The player set to miss out is Tanguy Ndombele.

French midfielder Ndombele marked Spurs’ record-signing during the summer, when he arrived from Lyon.

And the 22-year-old has since gone on to notch a goal and an assist in his firs two appearances for the club.

However, Ndombele will not be fit to feature versus Newcastle, after picking up a thigh injury in training.

Juan Foyth and Ryan Sessegnon are also set to miss out:

There is better news for fans of the capital giants regarding Dele Alli and Heung-min Son, though.

Alli has returned to first-team training with the rest of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, while Son is available for the first time following the suspension picked up by the South Korean at the end of last season:
