Spurs boss Jose Mourinho shuts down claims of Danny Rose bust-up

Jose Mourinho has moved to firmly deny claims that he and Danny Rose had a falling out following the stopper’s omission from Spurs’ squad to take on Watford.

Tottenham held

The Lilywhites visited Vicarage Road this past weekend, for  their latest Premier League outing.

Spurs no doubt headed into proceedings desperate for all 3 points, on the back of a disappointing run of just 1 win from their preceding 5 across all competitions.

When all was said and done, however, the north Londoners were forced to settle for a point.

Despite both sides having gone close more than once over the course of the 90 minutes, a feisty affair at Vicarage Road eventually ended goalless.

‘Don’t have any problem’

One of Spurs’ stars to have missed out on their stalemate on Saturday afternoon was Danny Rose.

Stopper Rose was omitted from the capital giants’ matchday squad, with Jose Mourinho having confirmed in a post-match press conference that his absence was down to a fitness problem sustained in training.

The 48 hours that followed, though, surprisingly saw reports begin to emerge that Rose and Mourinho had been involved in a training ground bust-up, over the former being left out at Watford.

Mourinho himself, however, has since moved to definitively shut down such claims.

Speaking this afternoon, the Tottenham boss was drawn on the reports of unrest in his camp, to which Mourinho responded:

‘Between me and Danny, no. I don’t know what you mean by tension in the air. I don’t have any problem with him.’

The Portuguese tactician continued:

‘The reason why he wasn’t selected against Middlesbrough is because we have a young left-back that we want to develop and it was a great opportunity to play [Ryan] Sessegnon.’

‘Also because his performance against Liverpool was not phenomenal.’

‘Then on the Thursday before Watford, late evening, I got a call from my medical staff saying Danny was calling them with a problem in his back and he wouldn’t train the next day.’

‘It was a bit of a surprise that on the Friday he was ready to train, but even so I decided then to play with [Japhet] Tanganga and have Ryan on the bench. That is the situation.’
