Southampton vs Tottenham 101 Great Goals: Southampton 1-3 Tottenham

Tottenham’s push for a place in the top four was dealt a blow on Saturday as they were held to a 2-2 draw with Norwich.

Spurs trail Chelsea by five points and dropped into sixth with Manchester United also winning during Gameweek 20.

Meanwhile, Southampton have continued their revival over Christmas taking seven points from their last three games.

The Saints will be hoping to have another major say in the top four race having beaten Chelsea on Boxing Day. And, of course, boost their own survival hopes.

Premier League preview: Southampton vs Tottenham

Tottenham will be looking to move on swiftly from their disappointing draw with Norwich at Carrow Road.

The draw leaves them five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea who were victorious at the Emirates.

For the second time in a week, Spurs missed the chance to move into the top four.

Now come Saturday lunchtime, they could find themselves eight-point off of the top four.

The Blues travel to Brighton on New Year’s Day in the 12:30 kick-off.

Spurs will be hopeful Tanguy Ndombele can continue on from where he left off against Norwich.

Having been criticised for his fitness and complaining about an injury which saw him miss Brighton, his performance at Carrow Road left Jose Mourinho impressed.

Southampton’s revival over Christmas

Following their humiliation by Leicester City, Southampton have since made steps in the right direction.

The Saints are up into 15th having taken seven points from games against Aston Villa, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Their win at Stamford Bridge was a strong indication that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s changes have been working.

The German manager opted to ditch his three at the back line-up for a more trusted 4-2-2-2 from his time at RB Leipzig.

The Saints’ upturn in form has also been helped by Danny Ings who has 12 Premier League goals for the season.
