Southampton poke fun at Bournemouth after Liverpool drubbing

Bournemouth’s difficult day to date has carried onto social media

The latest social media activity on the part of Premier League outfit Southampton has piqued widespread attentions on Saturday evening.

This comes after the Saints opted to poke some lighthearted fun at English top-flight rivals Bournemouth.

Scott Parker’s troops, of course, took their place centre stage in the headlines earlier this afternoon.

Unfortunately for the Cherries, though, this came for all the wrong reasons.

After making the trip to Anfield eyeing a 2nd victory of the campaign, Bournemouth were ultimately put to the sword in remarkable fashion, by a hefty nine goals to nil.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz and Fabio Carvalho were all on target, en route to a historic result on the red half of Merseyside.

On the back of the action coming to a close on Saturday, it has therefore since come as little surprise to see Bournemouth emerge as the butt of the collective joke online.

And, as alluded to above, the source of one such jibe comes in the form of Southampton.

Of course fellow recipients of a 9-goal Premier League defeat in the not so distant past, the Saints made use of the famed ‘Spider Man meme’, to have some lighthearted fun at the expense of their top-flight rivals:
