Garth Crooks: BBC team of the week
As always on a Monday, Garth Crooks have revealed his Premier League team of the BBC.
Arsenal were the big winners this weekend in the XI. Following a brilliant 5-1 win over Everton, the Gunners had three players in the team.
Aaron Ramsey was included after his first Premier League hat-trick, while Henrikh Mhkitaryan also made the team after his three assists in the Everton game.
Up-top Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was selected after his goalscoring debut for the Gunners.
The full XI is below.
‘Southampton’s Mario Lemina is an Arsenal player’
But perhaps the most eye-catching part of Garth Crooks’ XI was his comments on Southampton’s Mario Lemina.
Southampton picked up three huge points in a 3-2 win at West Brom on Saturday.
The win lifted the Saints into 15th spot in the division. However Southampton are just two above the bottom three.
The goal of the game at the Hawthorns came from Lemina. He found the top corner with a stunner from long range.
For Garth Crooks, Arsenal should be doing everything to sign Lemina from St Mary’s. Coming across like the player’s agent, Crooks made the following statements on the BBC:
This lad is playing for the wrong team. Seriously. Mario Lemina is an Arsenal player if ever I have seen one.
For far too long in my opinion, Arsene Wenger has faffed around with the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin. Wenger should have invested in Lemina during the summer and got in there well before Southampton did.
Lemina is wasted at St Mary’s. Sorry, Southampton fans, but you just do not have the class of player to bring the best out of this lad.
