Southampton confirm pair ruled out vs Wolves & Matt Doherty reveals he’s not 100% fit

Wolves vs Southampton

Saturday 3 pm football returns to Molineux this weekend, as Wolves take on Southampton.

Wolves have often played their Premier League fixtures on Sundays this season, due to their Europa League commitments.

After a slow start, Wolves are picking up speed.

Just before the international break, Wolves won 2-0 away at Man City to move into 11th.

Southampton sit just above the drop zone on goal difference, with 7 points on the board.

Southampton confirm two players are out vs Wolves

Ralph Hasenhuttl confirmed on Thursday that Moussa Djenepo and Cedric Soares will miss the Wolves game. The Southampton manager said:

I think (all Southampton’s international players) are all fit back.

No injuries so far, we only have Moussa Djenepo and Cedric Soares out.

On Djenepo’s possible return to action, Hasenhuttl said:

Moussa has no problems so far, he can run, he can pass the ball, but shooting so far we didn’t do with him because this is the most dangerous movement he can do.

We must be very patient with him. Today he has a scan, then we will know how long it will take. For the weekend, not.

At the moment I’m thinking a little bit about the week of the Manchester City game [GW11], maybe.

Matt Doherty reveals he’s not 100% fit

Irish international Matt Doherty has spoken to the Express & Star this week about his fitness.

Doherty’s performances for Wolves have improved as the season has progressed.

However, the Wolves right wing-back has admitted that he’s still not fully fit:

I’ve had a knee injury that I hurt in the first weeks of the season, and then I came back way too soon on that.

It set me back, but I was still involved, I was still training on it. But it didn’t feel good, it’s only starting now to feel a bit better.

Sometimes now, I still feel it. It’s probably 90 per cent. It doesn’t feel the same as my left one, but I can play on it.
