FC Barcelona v Paris Saint-Germain - UEFA Champions League Round of 16: Second Leg

Something strange is happening to Barcelona’s Luis Suarez

Barcelona 2 – Malaga 0

Barcelona moved four points clear of Valencia at the top of the Spanish first division on Saturday.

The Catalans picked up three points in a 2-0 home win over Malaga.

Real Madrid came move to within five points of Barcelona on Sunday night if Los Blancos can beat Eibar at home.

Malaga fell behind early on in the match. Barcelona worked the ball down the left hand side, before former Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu arrived in the box to fire home.

But should the goal have stood? Lucas Digne took the ball out of play before passing to Deulofeu.

The match was wrapped up in the second half when Andres Iniesta popped up with a rare goal for Barca. Leo Messi provided the assist.

Luis Suarez has problems

While the night was largely positive for Barca, Luis Suarez struggled.

The Uruguayan missed a good chance in the first half. While in the second period Suarez missed a virtual open goal at the back post.

How didn’t he find the back of the net?!

After missing that golden opportunity, Suarez was hauled off and replaced by Paco Alcacer.

The South American forward did not look happy when he had his contribution ended.

The truth is that something isn’t syncing for Suarez at the moment. He’s only scored three goals in 11 matches this season.

Out for Uruguay

Suarez’s problem could be health related.

It’s already been confirmed that the Barcelona star will miss Uruguay’s upcoming friendlies against Poland and Austria in November.

Suarez is trying to fully recover from a knee problem which he’s been suffering from since August.

But if he’s not fit, should Ernesto Valverde really be playing him so often?
