Solskjaer refuses to pin blame on Lindelof following Man United 1-3 Crystal Palace

Man United beaten comfortably

Manchester United got their 2020/21 Premier League campaign underway on Saturday evening vs Crystal Palace.

The Red Devils were not in action during gameweek one, having been handed an extended break owing to their European commitments last term.

Palace, on the other hand, earned a solid win over Southampton last weekend.

And the Eagles were once again in top form at Old Trafford, something that most certainly couldn’t be said of Manchester United.

The hosts were a complete shambles from top to bottom, with a lack of creativity and shaky defending the main areas of concern.

The only real positive for United on Saturday was the substitute appearance of Donny van de Beek, who scored the Reds’ only goal of the game.

Solskjaer refuses to point finger at Lindelof

As mentioned above, Man United’s overall display against the Eagles was pretty dismal.

But, if one had to pinpoint the biggest area of concern, it would most certainly be Victor Lindelof.

The Swede had an absolute nightmare 90 minutes against Palace, which included his giving away a penalty.

However, speaking on the back of his side’s defeat, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to pin the blame on Lindelof:

“We all need games, we all need sharpness we all need time to get back to our best and I think we are going to get better.

“But we are playing catch-up. Today we didn’t defend as well as we could have done but I wouldn’t want to point fingers at individuals.”
