Solskjaer provides Man United team news update ahead of West Brom

West Brom vs Man United

Manchester United return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, after seeing off West Ham earlier in the week to book their spot in the last-eight of the FA Cup.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side currently sit 2nd in the Premier League table.

However, their draw with Everton last time out of course saw United’s title hopes take a big hit.

Manchester City are now five points clear of their neighbours, whom they also hold a game in hand over.

As a result, if Solskjaer and co. hope to keep their fading title hopes alive, they need a win this weekend.

Picking up three points against West Brom, though, shouldn’t prove too hard.

The Baggies are firmly entrenched in the relegation zone, 11 points behind 17th. They have won just two league games all season, and are in possession of by far and away the worst defensive record in the English top-flight – having conceded 54 goals in 23 outings.

Man United team news

Ahead of Sunday’s tie, meanwhile, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held his latest press conference on Friday.

During the presser, the Red Devils boss provided an update on fitness levels in his squad.

And it looks as though United will have a similar squad available to the one which knocked West Ham out of the FA Cup, when facing West Brom.

Speaking earlier today, Solskjaer confirmed that both Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly are set to miss out:

“We’ve had a rare opportunity to do a bit of training and recovery.”

“Paul [Pogba] is out. Eric has been training, which is a boost to us.”
