Man United vs Man City

League Cup action will return to our screens this week.

The first of the competition’s semi-finals takes place on Tuesday evening, when Tottenham face off with Championship outfit Brentford.

Then, on Wednesday, we will be treated to a Manchester derby.

Both sides head into the clash in solid form, with United sitting joint-top of the Premier League table, and City not far behind with a game in hand.

Pep Guardiola’s outfit also boast a superb record in the League Cup, having won it in four of the last five years. United, meanwhile, bagged the other during this stretch.

As a result, the Red Devils will no doubt be hopeful of having as strong a squad as possible at their disposal on Wednesday.

And, judging by the latest comments on the part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, this is essentially what the Norwegian has.

The United boss held his pre-City press conference on Tuesday.

And, during the presser, Solskjaer confirmed that, barring the suspended Edinson Cavani and long-time absentee Phil Jones, the rest of his squad look set to be available for selection:

“We’re disappointed not having Edinson involved. But he’s probably the only one not [available] and, of course, Phil Jones has been out for a long time. They’re the only two not available for selection, which is a good position to be in.

“We’re confident. We’re going into the game in good form so there’s no excuses. The squad is focused and we’re ready to give it a go. We’ve prepared well for this game.”
