Solskjaer provides injury updates on Maguire & Bailly ahead of West Ham

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has moved to provide updates on two of Manchester United’s defenders ahead of their match with West Ham.

Man United vs West Ham

Manchester United will welcome West Ham to Old Trafford on Wednesday for what could be a huge tie in the club’s season.

The Red Devils will head into the match sat 5th in the Premier League, a spot we now know will not secure Champions League football for 2020/21.

But after 4th-place Leicester City were put to the sword by Tottenham this past weekend, United are now able to take the Foxes’ spot in the top-four.

Wednesday’s tie is United’s game in hand and anything other than a loss would see them overtake Leicester.

But with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men facing Leicester on the final day of the campaign, United will no doubt be keen to beat West Ham by as many goals as possible to ensure their goal difference is higher than Leicester.

Both sides currently have a goal difference of 28. But say Man United were to beat West Ham 3-0, they could lose to Leicester by one goal and still qualify for the Champions League.

Man United team news

Ahead of their clash with the Hammers, Solskjaer would, on Tuesday, provide a team news update on his squad.

The Manchester outfit were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chelsea on Sunday.

As well as being outclassed by the Blues, several of United’s players were in the wars.

Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly would clash heads during the tie at Wembley with the latter forced off to receive treatment in hospital.

And when speaking about the pair on Tuesday, OGS confirmed that Maguire should be fine whilst United are still monitoring the Ivorian:

“He [Maguire] was in yesterday [Monday] and should be fine.”

Solskjaer added on Bailly:

“Of course, he was shaken up a bit. He had a big blow to his head. We’re still monitoring him.

“He stayed down in London after the game. I’ve not seen him this morning yet because these interviews are before the boys meet up.

“I’ll see him soon and, hopefully, he’ll be alright.”
