Roma vs Man United

Manchester United will be back in Europa League action on Thursday evening.

The Red Devils are of course set to play out the second of two semi-final meetings with Italian outfit AS Roma, with the upcoming tie to take place at the Stadio Olimpico.

The game, however, is in truth of little importance to Manchester United, who have already all but secured their spot in this season’s Europa League final.

This comes with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men having earned themselves a staggering 6-2 win over Roma last time out.

The Italians actually took a 2-1 lead into the break at Old Trafford. But, amid a combination of injury woes on Roma’s part, and some quality finishing from the hosts, United went on to net on five occasions over the course of the 2nd-half.

Solskjaer on Cavani & Glazers

Prior to the second leg, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer held his latest pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The Norwegian discussed a number of topics, including Edinson Cavani’s contract situation.

And though it was confirmed that no agreement has yet been reached over the Uruguayan staying beyond the summer, Solskjaer remains hopeful:

“We’ve had some good chats lately and even though the decision is still in his court, I’m still hopeful.

“And maybe even more so when you saw him on Thursday against Rome, and telling him ‘when you do that in front of the Stretford End, that’s magic’.”

OGS also confirmed that he has received a personal apology from Reds owners the Glazers, in the aftermath of the European Super League debacle:
