Solskjaer once again insists van de Beek will ‘get his games’ after Dutchman left on bench vs Chelsea

Man United draw with Chelsea

Saturday’s marquee Premier League fixture pitted Manchester United against Chelsea.

Neither of the sides have enjoyed great starts to the season, though United did head into the tie in better form.

Chelsea had been held to draws in their last two outings prior to Saturday’s clash, whereas the Red Devils picked up key wins over Newcastle and PSG.

Despite this, though, United were unable to break down an often shaky Chelsea backline.

Both sides, for the most part, looked largely off the pace on the day, eventually resulting in a rather drab 0-0 draw being played out.

There were a few chances here and there, especially for United. But Edouard Mendy pulled off a trio of solid saves, whilst Edinson Cavani hit the side netting with his first touch as a Man United player.

Solskjaer comments on van de Beek’s lack of game time

With United having struggled to carve Chelsea open, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to introduce all of Paul Pogba, Cavani and Mason Greenwood.

Donny van de Beek, however, didn’t even get off the bench vs the Blues.

The Dutchman is yet to start a single league game for United, despite his clear impact from the bench vs Newcastle last weekend.

Following his side’s trip to St. James’ Park, meanwhile, Solskjaer assured that van de Beek will soon be afforded consistent game time.

But with many, including Patrice Evra, having questioned the former Ajax man’s lack of minutes once again on Saturday, the Man United boss, in turn, was drawn on the situation during his post-match press conference.

And Solskjaer went on to take the same stance he did a week ago, insisting that van de Beek will ‘get his games’:

“Don’t worry about that. He’ll get his games. Don’t worry about that.

“It’s easy to say who should be playing and more difficult to say who shouldn’t.”
