Solskjaer on Man United’s draw with AZ Alkmaar: ‘A good point away from home’

AZ Alkmaar 0-Man United 0

Manchester United went head-to-head with Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.

Man United had won their previous Europa League clash vs Astana, but it wasn’t exactly a convincing display.

The Red Devils would then struggle to break down AZ Alkmaar, and be forced to settle for a 0-0 draw.

After the lackluster draw, United are now second in Group L, behind Partizan.

Man United continue to struggle away from home

As well as dropping to second in their group, some rather worrying stats emerged after Man United’s draw.

After failing to beat AZ Alkmaar, it was revealed that Man United have now gone 10 away games across all competitions without a win.

Man United also failed to register a single shot on target vs Alkmaar, the first time that they have ever failed to do so in a UEFA Europa League tie.

But, despite this, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke after the tie, and stated that it was a good point away from home:

“It’s a good point away from home against a difficult opponent on a difficult surface.

“They beat Feyenoord 3-0 away from home, we made many changes and I’m very pleased.

“It should’ve been a win. I’m fed up of talking about penalties we should have had – that’s 100 times out of 100.

“Unfortunately for us we didn’t get it so there’s no point me complaining, but there will come a point where these decisions will turn our way.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
