Solskjaer claims winning Europa League would be the best moment of his career

Man United vs Copenhagen

Manchester United secured a 2-1 win over LASK on Wednesday, to send them comfortably into the Europa League quarter-final stages.

The Red Devils are now set to face off with FC Copenhagen for a place in the last four.

Due to Covid-19, this tie, along with the competition’s semi-finals, will be one-off affairs with no second-leg – meaning Man United will need to be at their best tomorrow night.

Find out how to watch the clash here.

Should United, as expected, indeed advance past Copenhagen, they will face one of Wolves or Sevilla in the semi-final stage.

Solskjaer eyeing Europa League glory

On the other side of the draw, one would imagine that Inter Milan, who missed out on the Serie A title by just one point, will manage to see off the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Shakhtar Donetsk to reach the Europa League final, where they could potentially face United.

Regardless of who the Red Devils meet if they manage to make it to the final two, though, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems desperate to win the competition.

The Norwegian, of course, enjoyed a great playing career with United, which saw him win six Premier League titles, one of which came during that 1999 treble campaign.

However, Solskjaer recently voiced the opinion that lifting a trophy with the Manchester giants now would represent the best moment of his career:

“I am ambitious – and one of my dreams is to lift the trophy as a manager for this club.

“I owe my career to this club, so winning something as manager would be the proudest moment of my football life. It would be the biggest achievement.

“As a player, I was part of a fantastic team and, sometimes, you just ride a wave. Roy Keane would say his back was sore because he carried me and he is probably right!

“I contributed as well as I could, I was always ready. To lift a trophy now would be the best moment of my career.”
