Solskjaer admits Rashford could miss remainder of the season & gives Pogba update

Marcus Rashford

Huge blow for Gareth Southgate and England

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested that Marcus Rashford could miss the rest of the season through injury.

Rashford suffered a back injury during an FA Cup clash with Wolves back in January.

That was a huge blow for Manchester United, who were already short up-front.

Rashford’s injury even forced the club into the transfer market, with the Red Devils having signed Odion Ighalo on loan.

It looked at the time that Rashford could possibly miss the remainder of the season, but the player suggested on social media that he would be back before the end of the campaign.

That timescale now looks in doubt, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer suggesting that Rashford’s season could be over.

Rashford could miss rest of the season

Speaking ahead of Manchester United’s clash with Club Brugge on Thursday, Solskjaer revealed that Rashford is ‘touch and go’ to return before the end of the season.

‘It’ll be touch and go. It takes time,’ Solskjaer explained, as quoted by the Mail.

‘I’m not a doctor but I was hoping he’d recover quicker than it actually looks like he’s going to be out for. He’ll be out for another few months, definitely.

‘He had a scan and it was maybe more severe, the fracture, than what we hoped. He felt fine in the days after. It just takes that time to recover. It is important we don’t rush him.’

Update on Paul Pogba’s fitness

Solskjaer also gave an update on the fitness of Paul Pogba.

The Frenchman has had a torrid time with injuries this season.

Now, Ole has admitted that Pogba is ‘not anywhere near’ returning to training.

‘He’s not been part of team training yet so it’ll depend on when he feels ready to do that,’ he continued.

‘He’s not anywhere near that yet.’
