Aston Villa sack Steve Bruce
Aston Villa’s search for a new manager will start in earnest on Thursday after Steve Bruce was sacked yesterday.
It was another bad week for Bruce as Aston Villa drew 3-3 at home against Preston.
That match will forever be remembered after an Aston Villa fan threw a cabbage at Steve Bruce.
Villa could have been playing Premier League football this season had they beaten Fulham in last year’s Championship playoff final.
As it is, Villa are 13th in the second tier with 15 points from 11 games.
Mick McCarthy trolls Thierry Henry
Former Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has thrown his name into the ring for the Aston Villa job.
McCarthy is out of a job after he walked out on Ipswich Town last season.
Speaking on Virgin Media Sport in midweek, McCarthy made it clear he’d love to get the job at Villa Park.
McCarthy also commented on claims that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry could get the Villa appointment.
In typically surly style, McCarthy made the following comment on Thierry Henry:
(Thierry Henry) shouldn’t be a favourite in front of me, let me tell you that! No way!
Mick McCarthy confirms he WOULD be interested in the Aston Villa job.

Would ex-Wolves boss McCarthy be welcomed at Villa Park?
I'm never happy taking cast offs from city and nor the old gold. No offense FFS but let's not forget: we are Aston Villa and we deserve the best possible manager available. @AVFCOfficial @VillaTill @AVFCBlog @TheVillaView_

What about Paulo Fonseca?
Another manager being linked with Aston Villa is Paulo Fonseca.
From Portugal, Fonseca is the current coach at Shakhtar Donetsk.
Rumours are spreading that super-agent Jorge Mendes could be working on bring Fonseca to Villa Park.
