Liverpool 4 – West Ham 1
It could have been different for West Ham at Anfield had Marko Arnautovic’s shot gone in inside of kissing the bar.
As it turned out, Liverpool were far too game for the Hammers on Saturday.
An Emre Can header opened the scoring from a corner, before Mohamed Salah doubled the lead after the break.
Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane added more goals to Liverpool’s tally, while Michail Antonio scored for West Ham.
Where was Javier Hernandez?
After the match, West Ham fans understood that Liverpool had deserved the win.
But that didn’t stop supporters picking apart David Moyes’s tactics at Anfield.
Moyes has famously never won away at Liverpool in any competition.
On Saturday, Arnautovic started up front while there was no room in the team for Javier Hernandez.
Some West Ham fans felt that was a wrong decision from Moyes, particularly after Chicharito had scored in his last appearance for the club against Watford.
The Mexican striker was given just seven minutes on the pitch against Liverpool.
For the record, Javier Hernandez has seven Premier League goals this season.
When it came to whinging about other issues from the Liverpool trip, Joao Mario was slammed for being too slow and wasteful in possession, while Moyes was blamed for not acting quickly enough on the sidelines.
The defeat left West Ham 13th in the table with 30 points from 28 games. Next weekend the Irons face a massive relegation six pointer against Swansea.
Swansea can draw level on points with the Hammers with a win.
