West Ham fans ‘beat’ Brighton stewards to unfurl banner against the Hammers board

It was a match Brighton needed to win to boost their survival hopes. And the Seagulls did just that.

Chris Hughton’s side picked up three huge points on Saturday beating West Ham 3-1.

In an incredible stat, 29% of all of Brighton’s Premier League goals this season have come against West Ham.

The hosts took the lead in the first half through Glenn Murray.

West Ham levelled with a moment of magic from Mexican striker Javier Hernandez.

Jose Izquierdo put Brighton back in the lead with a superb striker just before the hour. And Pascal Gross made it 3-1 with 15 minutes to go with another superb strike.

Away from the action on the pitch, a group of West Ham fans got into a confrontation with stewards in the stands.

As the second half drew on an it became obvious West Ham were going to lose, a banner appeared in the away end.

The banner was against the West Ham board. The main message was “Board Out” while a list of broken promises were displayed: Next level? Close to pitch? Debt free?

The banner also noted that supporters are not customers, while the board were labelled as liars.

According to reports, stewards at Brighton tried to remove the banner from the West Ham fans. But the West Ham fans won.
