Arsenal vs Watford
The first match in the Premier League on Sunday came at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal, fifth in the division, welcomed Watford to north London as the Gunners looked to keep their top four hopes alive.
Arsenal came into the game following a 2-0 away win at AC Milan in the Europa League.
That shock result arrested a four-match losing streak; the worst sequence of results in Arsene Wenger’s 22-year Arsenal career.
Where were Arsenal’s fans?
One of the most noticeable observations during the Arsenal-Watford game is ‘where were the Arsenal fans?’
The Emirates Stadium was exposed with empty red seats for the Watford match as thousands of supporters decided to stay away.
To be clear, there was no planned protest by Gooners for the Watford match.
Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium is fully sold-out to season-ticket holders. Many of these supporters seemed to opt to give the Watford match a miss.

Lots of empty seats here at the Emirates. As much as Thursday's victory in the San Siro was glorious nothing changes in terms of Arsene Wenger needing to leave Arsenal in order for the club to once again challenge in the Premier League. Whether he will is another matter entirely pic.twitter.com/QwSVOjLQ5E

Watford fans troll Arsenal with some comedy songs
Arsenal’s half empty ground offered Watford’s travelling support the opportunity to score some easy wins in the stands.
Watford’s supported trolled the home crowd singing a couple of chants:
You’re just a ground full of tourists!
Your ground’s too big for you!
Watford fans berating the lack of atmosphere at Emirates Stadium: "You're just a ground full of tourists."
