Marcos Alonso to Chelsea?
It’s possible that after struggling to sign one new defender throughout the summer, Chelsea could sign two defenders in the final hours of the transfer window.
Rumours are rife that David Luiz is poised for a sensational Stamford Bridge return from PSG.
At the same time, Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso has been strongly linked to the Blues in recent days, and there’s been some noticeable activity on social media which suggests that deal is set to be concluded.
Follows on social media
The biggest tip-off that Alonso is on his way to Chelsea has come from the player himself, who has began to follow the official Chelsea Twitter account.
Why would a player do that if they weren’t moving clubs?
At the same time, Blues stopper Thibaut Courtois has started following Marcos Alonso on the social network too.

Tuesday’s update on Alonso
According to Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday – who writes for Sky Sports and the Guardian – while the Blues had agreed terms with Alonso, Chelsea hadn’t reached an agreement with Fiorentina.
The Viola are said to want to hold onto 25-year-old Alonso, however Chelsea have offered €27 million for a player the club picked up for free back in 2013.
The sense is that Fiorentina will be unable to turn down such an offer for the Spaniard.
