Real Madrid vs Sevilla

Is this the result which will prove the springboard for Real Madrid in La Liga this season?

It’s been a terrible 2017-18 season for Real by their own high standards.

Indeed, before Saturday’s match against Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu, Los Blancos were experiencing their worst start to a campaign since 2008.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s struggles in front of goal were the go-to stats for all Real Madrid haters.

But against Sevilla everything clicked. The match was over as a contest long before halftime as Real went into the break 5-nil up.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice against Sevilla in the first half.

It’s obviously been an incredible few days for Cristiano Ronaldo.

On Thursday night in Paris, the Real Madrid star was crowned the 2-17 Ballon d’Or winner.

It was the fifth time the Portuguese superstar has lifted the trophy, and he’s now equal with Barcelona’s Leo Messi.

And it seems that one opponent on Saturday night in the Sevilla camp was a big Ronaldo fan.

In an image which will raise Barcelona fans eyebrows, Gol TV spotted that Sevilla midfielder Guido Pizarro was playing with Cristiano Ronaldo’s branded shinguards against Real Madrid.

While that’s obviously no proof of anything, it is still super strange.

Pizarro started the match in midfield for Sevilla.

It’s also worth noting that Sevilla are fifth in La Liga. It’s not as if Real Madrid aren’t direct rivals at the moment.
