West Ham 2 – Tottenham 3
After two successive defeats at West Ham, Spurs enjoyed themselves a lot more at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Harry Kane bagged a brace for Tottenham in the first half, to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side an element of control in a feisty London derby.
When Christian Eriksen scored Spurs’ third on 60 minutes, it undoubtedly looked like game over.
Serge Aurier sent off at West Ham
The West Ham comeback started on 65 minutes as Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez pulled one back.
A minute before that new Spurs right back Serge Aurier received his first yellow of the match.
Five minutes later, West Ham were given even more encouragement of a comeback when Aurier received his second booking and was sent off.
The first yellow was for a needless push on Andy Carroll. The second challenge was pretty poor decision making.
When you scythe down Andy Carroll, you leave referee Michael Oliver very little choice but to show a second yellow.

With Tottenham winning the match, and Aurier’s red card not totally detrimental to Mauricio Pochettino’s side, it is far from clear whether the Ivorian has learned from his actions.
Aurier posted on Instagram on Saturday afternoon.
The former PSG defender arrived at Spurs with a bad boy reputation, mainly thanks to his off the field behaviour.
Aurier posted four pictures and added the following statement:
“big victory in this derby😆 !! good Work guys💪🏾 !! thanks to the supporters who have made the displacement still sorry for the red card🙏🏾 this is part of the games good weekend has all 3points Coys🔥
Tottenham supporters will likely appreciate the apology, but it might be a bit more difficult to swallow: “this is part of the games”.
Aurier will now miss Tottenham’s match at Huddersfield next Saturday. The Ivory Coast right back will be available for Tuesday’s Champions League match at APOEL.
