Following the paper talk, comes the social media update…
French daily L’Equipe announced on Sunday that Manchester United right-back Rafael da Silva is on the verge of a move to Lyon for three million euros.
According to L’Equipe, Rafael could arrive in France on Sunday, ahead of a possible medical with Lyon on Monday.
The Brazilian right-back indeed lost his place in the team to Antonio Valencia last season, and it now seems apparent that the 25-year-old’s days in Manchester are numbered, particularly after the arrival of Matteo Darmian from Torino.
As news of Rafael’s reported departure begin to do the rounds, the defender has decided to all-but confirm the news on Twitter on Sunday morning.
Rafael replied to a Man United fans who contacted him on the social network to wish him bon voyage for his next career move to Ligue 1.
