One player weirdly stood out in Man United’s 2017-18 squad photo

Manchester United 2017-18

Over the weekend, Manchester United have released their 2017-18 squad photo.

The picture includes all the players in Jose Mourinho’s Old Trafford first team squad, plus the manager’s coaching staff.

The image also includes the two major trophies Man United own last season: the League Cup and the Europa League trophy.

Starting with the back row, the list of the men in the photo are as follows:

(Back row, left to right) Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Nemanja Matic, Romelu Lukaku, Marcos Rojo, Axel Tuanzebe, Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay.

(Middle row, left to right) Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Gary Walker, Giovanni Cerra, Carlos Lalin, Eric Bailly, Sergio Romero, David De Gea, Joel Pereira, Ashley Young, Ricardo Formosinho, Emilio Alvarez, Paolo Gaudino, Paul Pogba.

(Front row, left to right) Victor Lindelof, Ander Herrera, Juan Mata, Silvino Louro, Antonio Valencia, Jose Mourinho, Michael Carrick, Rui Faria, Jesse Lingard, Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian.

Paul Pogba stands out

But was the squad photo doctored?

Many believe the Man United image was photoshopped as one player – Paul Pogba – stood out.

Pogba, of course, is currently on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. Indeed, the French international has been spending time in Miami in recent weeks as he works on his comeback.

So when did Pogba have time to line up in the squad photo? Or was he superimposed into the 2017-18 image?

That seems possible, as the midfielder is stood awkwardly on the right hand side.

Shouldn’t he have been positioned in a more central role in the United photo considering he’s the club’s most expensive ever player?
