Neymar & Edinson Cavani’s PSG feud moves up a notch

PSG beat Lyon 2-0…

Perhaps we have seen an early sign from PSG that whilst the rest of Ligue 1 cannot get near them, only feuding amongst themselves is going to stop them having a successful season.

PSG made it six wins from six on Sunday night as they defeated Lyon 2-0 at the Parc des Princes.

Two own goals from Marcelo and Jeremy Morel downed Lyon and judging by the early weeks of the season, only Monaco will get even close to PSG in Ligue 1.

But the Neymar-Cavani feud dominates

For much of the nascent season so far, Neymar’s trickery and the goals of the Brazilian alongside Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe have dominated proceedings.

PSG were incredible at Celtic in the Champions League last midweek and it looks like in Europe’s premier competition the Parisians will also make a huge impact this season.

On Sunday evening, the emerging feud between Neymar and Edinson Cavani undoubtedly dominated proceedings.

Neymar & Cavani argue over penalty

Late on in the Lyon game, both Neymar and Cavani argued over who would take a penalty.

Cavani, who had the ball in his hands, refused Neymar’s pleas to take it and promptly saw Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes make a fine save.

Then came a free-kick which Cavani wanted to take, and Neymar was reliant on Dani Alves to take the ball from the Uruguayan to ensure his Brazilian mate could have an effort on goal.

Like many an on-pitch argument, the feud has not stopped there and PSG boss Unai Emery looks to have a problem on his hands.

Cavani stormed out of the stadium after the game and in recent hours it has been noted that Neymar has stopped following the Uruguayan on Instagram.

Clearly there are massive egos at play here and who knows how an unfollow will play out in the Brazilian dominated PSG dressing room…
