Newcastle’s Twitter account was on fire vs West Ham

West Ham 2 – Newcastle 3

Newcastle fans received an early Christmas present on Saturday with three enormous points at West Ham.

The win lifted Newcastle up to 15th in the table after 19 rounds of the season.

As is often the case with the Toon, the afternoon started gloomily as Marko Arnautovic scored after 6 minutes from a Newcastle mistake at the back.

But forgotten man Henri Saivet quickly leveled with a stunning free-kick.

Mohamed Diame – another virtual forgotten man – fired the Magpies ahead early in the second half. But then things got crazy.

Andre Ayew missed a penalty for West Ham, Christian Atsu fired the Toon 3-1 up, while Ayew scored late on to set up a nervous finale.

Newcastle’s Twitter account was on fire

During the West Ham game, and even before the match started, Newcastle United’s official Twitter account was firing off trolling tweets.

The first came when the vantage point at the London Stadium became apparent.

The Newcastle account made it obvious that they felt far from the action on the pitch.

After the match ended, the account also had a joke at West Ham’s expense.

Newcastle vs Manchester City

Newcastle face a big challenge on Wednesday when Man City arrive to St James’ Park.

Pep Guardiola’s side are on an 17-match winning run in the Premier League. That’s a new record.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is likely to miss the match with his ongoing back problem. Rafa Benitez also has doubts over Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden.

Benjamin Mendy and Phil Foden are both out of contention for the Sky Blues.

There is an outside chance Johns Stones could return to action against the Magpies, possibly on the bench.
