Newcastle fans savage the Telegraph’s Matt Law after West Ham

West Ham 2 – Newcastle 3

Newcastle fans received an early Christmas present on Saturday with three enormous points at West Ham.

The win lifted Newcastle up to 15th in the table after 19 rounds of the season.

As is often the case with the Toon, the afternoon started gloomily as Marko Arnautovic scored after 6 minutes from a Newcastle mistake at the back.

But forgotten man Henri Saivet quickly leveled with a stunning free-kick.

Mohamed Diame – another virtual forgotten man – fired the Magpies ahead early in the second half. But then things got crazy.

Andre Ayew missed a penalty for West Ham, Christian Atsu fired the Toon 3-1 up, while Ayew scored late on to set up a nervous finale.

Daily Mail’s Matt Law & Rafa Benitez

After the match, the Telegraph’s Matt Law upset a lot of Newcastle fans.

The journalist wrote the following on social media:

Rafa shaking hands with all the Newcastle players he doesn’t think are good enough.

Considering that was Newcastle’s first win in ten matches, surely going after Benitez like that was a little poor taste.

Newcastle fans react badly

It’s no surprise that Newcastle fans turned on Matt Law.
