St James' Park pre Newcastle 2 - Leicester 3

Newcastle & Man United fans were unhappy with their line-ups

Newcastle vs Man United

When the team sheets came out on Sunday ahead of Newcastle’s match with Man United, both sets of supporters had reasons to complain.

Newcastle, of course, are battling for their Premier League survival.

Man United are second in the table, 16 points behind Man City at the start of play.

The team sheets for Sunday’s match at St James’ Park were as follows:

Newcastle: Dubravka, Dummett, Lascelles, Lejeune, Yedlin, Shelvey, Kenedy, Diame, Perez, Ritchie, Gayle.

Subs: Darlow, Manquillo, Hayden, Merino, Atsu, Murphy, Joselu

Man United: De Gea, Valencia, Young, Jones, Smalling, Matic, Pogba, Lingard, Sanchez, Martial, Lukaku.

Subs: Romero, Lindelöf, Rojo, Shaw, Carrick, McTominay, Mata.

Where was Luke Shaw?

Manchester United fans were upset to see that there was no room for Luke Shaw in the Man United XI.

Shaw dropped out the team after playing against Huddersfield last weekend.

At the same time, reports in the past few days have suggested that Shaw could be in line for a new deal at Old Trafford.

Ashley Young was picked at left-back against the Magpies.

Where was Islam Slimani?

Once again Newcastle fans were left to wait to see Islam Slimani in action.

Slimani joined Rafa Benitez’s side on loan until the end of the season, but he’s yet to make his debut.

There had been hope that the Algerian could make his debut against Man United, but the striker has failed to shake off an injury.
