Welcome to the 2015/2016 season!

Barely 15 minutes into the new English football season curtain raiser between Arsenal and Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley, and the name “Michael Owen” was trending.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker was on co-commentary duty for the Arsenal v Chelsea clash on BT Sport.

Whilst Michael Owen in his heyday was a striker of speed, guile and with excellent finishing in his armoury, his commentary leaves a lot to be desired.

With BT Sport showing 38 Barclays Premier League matches in 2015/2016, including 18 top picks and live coverage of Champions League and Europa League matches, there will be plenty of time for Michael Owen to trend on Twitter this season.

Forget Ramires’ dirty play in the first half, or the weak penalty shout from Chelsea for a foul on Csc Fabregas, Michael Owen was pretty much all anyone could talk about!

Until Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain smacked home a beauty for Arsenal’s opener…
