Michael Owen's harsh attack on Ronaldo

Michael Owen jokes about Ronaldo’s condition after Ballon d’or presentation

“I thought I was putting the pounds on…”

On Saturday, before Real Madrid stuffed Granada 5-0 in La Liga, to go 38 games unbeaten, Cristiano Ronaldo presented his fourth Ballon d’Or to the Bernabeu.

Sharing the moment with Cristiano Ronaldo were former Real Madrid Ballon d’Or winners Michael Owen, Luis Figo, Ronaldo (the Brazilian) and Zinedine Zidane.

An all star cast undoubtedly for Cristiano Ronaldo – whilst Kaka called in to say his own words to congratulate the Portuguese superstar.

Michael Owen takes a dig at Ronaldo

After the Real Madrid match, Michael Owen took a sly dig at the Brazilian Ronaldo, a former team mate of his at the Bernabeu.

Much like his punditry, you can sort of see what Owen has gotten at – the Tweet certainly has a lot of retweets – but it is a little out of order.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United striker wrote: “I thought I was putting the pounds on until I saw my old mate Ronnie!”

Brazilian Ronaldo has a condition

In recent years, Brazilian Ronaldo has been nicknamed by some as the “Fat Ronaldo”.

Partly due to the unbelievable success enjoyed by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima suffers from hypothyroidism – an illness that causes weight gain and a puffy face.

Perhaps Owen doesn’t know about the condition. Even if he does, Ronaldo has proven in recent days that he can be absolutely savage on social media.
