Mesut Ozil missed Chelsea 0 – Arsenal 0
Last Saturday evening, rumours emerged that Mesut Ozil would miss Arsenal’s game at Chelsea.
In the end, the German playmaker did not take any part as the Gunners drew 0-0 at Stamford Bridge with the Premier League champions.
Arsenal were widely praised for showing the fight and defensive organisation that has often been missed in recent years.
As a result, some have also put two and two together, hailing the significance of Ozil missing the Premier League encounter.
Arsene Wenger revealed that Ozil had a small problem with his knee before the Chelsea match. This came after the former Real Madrid man was rested for the Europa League match with Cologne.
Mesut Ozil posts injury update on Instagram
Mesut Ozil has posted an injury update on social media network Instagram.
The German World Cup winner tagged his thumbs up picture with the following statement:
“Good news: I’m back training on the pitch. As you might have heard I’m suffering from a minor inflammation of my knee. Feeling better each day now and hope to be back playing very soon!”
Ozil was not expected to take part in Arsenal’s Carabao Cup match against Doncaster on Wednesday night.
Arsenal v West Brom
The good news for Arsenal is that they do not play until Monday, against West Brom at The Emirates.
Ozil, judging by his Instagram update, could well be fit for that encounter with the Baggies.
Next Thursday, Arsenal head to BATE Borisov in the Europa League. Their final Premier League game before the international break is at Brighton.
After Chelsea, many Gooners will be wondering how important Ozil is to Arsenal. He looks almost certain to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
