Wayne Rooney

Man United old boy Wayne Rooney trolls Man City fans with an epic tweet

Man City 1 – Wayne Rooney 1

Everton picked up a fine point on the road on Monday night as they held Man City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

City were reduced to 10 men after Kyle Walker picked up two bookings in the first half. Many believed the dismissal was harsh.

Man United old boy Wayne Rooney then fired Everton ahead with a clinical finish in the box. It was his 200th Premier League career goal.

It’s Rooney’s second goal in as many games for Everton in the Premier League since his return from Old Trafford.

Man City equalised with eight minutes remaining in the game thanks to sub Raheem Sterling, while Everton finished the match with 10 men after Morgan Schneiderlin picked up a late (and questionable) second yellow card.

Wayne Rooney’s brilliant tweet

After the match, Rooney took to social media to post his post match thoughts.

In an amazing tweet, the Everton striker uploaded a photo with the tag-line: “Always nice to see a few familiar faces!”

Other fans then got involved in the thread to flag up how Man City fans have been abusing Rooney for years.

Rooney for England?

Will Wayne Rooney be in the upcoming England squad?

Having scored in back to back Premier League matches for Everton, it’s highly likely that Rooney is recalled to the national team.
