With Louis van Gaal looking like an increasingly forlorn figure at Manchester United, CEO Ed Woodward is coming under increasing scrutiny.

Manchester United v Chelsea has been billed as LVG’s last stand as manager at Old Trafford following a dismal run of no wins in seven matches.

And, incredibly, it has emerged on Monday that Louis van Gaal has tried to quit on at least two occasions in recent weeks.

The first time was after the 2-1 home defeat by Norwich. With the Dutchman again attempting to resign after Saturday’s loss at Stoke.

With both Ryan Giggs and Jose Mourinho waiting in the wings it seems inconceivable that Woodward would have so much faith in Louis van Gaal, that he feels no alternatives could do a better job.

And, with so much speculation now rife, Ed Woodward is firmly in the firing line.

Woodward may be pulling off some fine commercial deals, but does he know how to run a football club?

And, with his time as CEO of Manchester United now marked by unsuccessful spells with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal, perhaps Woodward should be the one resigning tonight?
