Tottenham’s Lucas Moura backs ‘far-right candidate’ to be Brazil’s next president

Tottenham & Lucas Moura

On the pitch, it’s been an amazing start to the season for Lucas Moura at Tottenham.

Moura moved to Spurs last January in a deal with PSG.

In 2017-18, Moura appeared to find his feet in his new north London surroundings.

2018-19 has already proven to be more profitable for Moura.

The Brazilian flyer has three Premier League goals for Spurs in four games.

Will Lucas Moura retain his place in the Spurs XI when Heung-min Son returns after competing with South Korea at the Asian Games?

Lucas Moura backs ‘far-right candidate’

Away from the pitch, however, Lucas Moura has attracted attention for his political affiliation.

Lucas Moura has backed Jair Bolsonaro to be Brazil’s next president on social media.

Jair Bolsonaro recently made international headlines when he was stabbed at a rally.

So what did the Tottenham star say?

Writing in Portuguese on Twitter, Moura said that “at least I am not seeing the same proposals and speeches”.

Bolsonaro stands accused of being a racist. However Moura challenged those accusations, saying Bolsonaro “would be in jail” if that was true.

Moura has also voiced his support of Bolsonaro’s policy of giving the police more powers to shoot criminals.
