Jurgen Klopp celebrates Liverpool win at West Ham

Liverpool’s shock man of the match v Maribor

Maribor 0 – Liverpool 7

Seven goals. Unbelievable, and a new Champions League record.

Liverpool have become the first English side in the history of the competition to score seven goals in a game.

And, to be honest, Liverpool could have scored a shedload more goals against the hapless Slovenians.

The match was over as a contest at the break. Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho scored early doors, before Mohamed Salah bagged a first half double.

In the second half Firmino notched his second of the game. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (first Liverpool goal) and Trent Alexander-Arnold found the target at the death.

Liverpool’s man on the match

If you didn’t watch the Maribor-Liverpool game, you may have assumed that one of Firmino, Coutinho or Salah would be showered with praise after the game.

But, for many Liverpool fans on social media, the man of the match was James Milner.

Milner, who was a virtual ever-present last season for the Reds at left-back, has struggled for playing time this season.

Accordingly, the Liverpool veteran showed just what an excellent player his is for the club with his standout show in the Champions League.

Should Milner be started for Jurgen Klopp ahead of Jordan Henderson?
