Southampton & Quincy Promes
Relegation threatened Southampton have begun to make strides in the January transfer market.
On Thursday Mauricio Pellegrino’s men announced a big new signing.
The Saints have splashed out 19 million pounds bringing in striker Guido Carrillo from Monaco. Carrillo scored 20 goals in over 50 appearances for Monaco, however he failed to lock down a first team slot this season.
But Southampton aren’t stopping there.
Dutch international Quincy Promes appears to be on the verge of a move to St Mary’s from Spartak Moscow.
According to Dutch paper Telegraaf on Friday, Southampton are ready to break their club transfer record on Promes.
It’s believed Promes could cost as much as 30 million pounds.
Should that deal go through, it would be good news for FC Twente. They’d be entitled to 5% of the transfer fee as per their agreement when they sold the winger to Spartak.
‘Liverpool fans celebrate the Promes deal’
Liverpool fans have taken to social media to make fun of Southampton’s interest in Quincy Promes.
In recent seasons, Southampton have sold a bucketload of players to Liverpool.
Virgil van Dijk is latest player to have swapped the south coast for Merseyside. While Adam Lallan, Dejan Lovren, Sadio Mane, Nathaniel Clyne and Rickie Lambert have all moved to Anfield in recent seasons.
With that in mind, some Liverpool fans are already looking forward to Promes’ arrival at their club.
