Malta v England
Whilst the rest of the football world are keeping a close eye on Transfer Deadline Day events, the England squad are travelling to Malta.
Gareth Southgate’s side have a World Cup qualifier in Malta as they bid to reach Russia 2018 next summer.
The England games against Malta and Slovakia have ensured a number of Tottenham players get to catch up with Kyle Walker again.
Walker joined Manchester City earlier this summer for a fee that was then a record for a defender.
Dele Alli’s Instagram Live on the way to Malta
On the way to Malta, Dele Alli treated his two million followers on Instagram to a live video.
During the Instagram Live, Eric Dier called Kyle Walker a “traitor” for leaving Tottenham to join Manchester City.
Walker replied immediately with a barb directed at Dier: “was different when you wanted to join United…”
Dele Alli was lost for words, seconds later both Dier and Walker hugged and made up, but the controversy was seen by many thousands of Instagram followers.
The Dele Alli Instagram Live video was quickly halted. It has since been deleted.
“Was different when you wanted to join United…”
Whilst Walker joined Manchester City after many months of speculation, Eric Dier was also heavily linked with Manchester United.
Whilst Mauricio Pochettino was seemingly ok with losing Walker for a huge fee, Spurs refused to sell Dier to Manchester United.
According to reports, Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Eric Dier, but after three bids were rejected by Tottenham, the Red Devils signed Nemanja Matic from Chelsea.
Dier has so far struggled for form this season, with Tottenham picking up four points from a possible nine in the Premier League.
On Thursday, Tottenham confirmed the signing of Serge Aurier, who will replace Kyle Walker.
