Sunday Supplement on Paul Pogba
One of the main topics of discussion on Sky Sports’ Sunday Supplement show was Paul Pogba.
Should it have been?
Pogba missed the 2-0 FA Cup win over Huddersfield on Saturday. While Jose Mourinho had planned to play Pogba, the midfielder withdrew through illness.
Yet, in a week in which rumours have sprouted up suggesting Pogba is unhappy at Old Trafford, the journalists on Sky Sports shone the light on the 100 million euro man.
For the record, Mourinho called the Pogba stories “bullshit”.
Where is Paul Pogba’s best position?
The segment opened with Pogba being compared t o some of the best midfielders in English history.
Patrick Vieira. Roy Keane. Graeme Souness. Could you envisage them saying that’s not quite the right central midfield role for me?
Some may take issue with that question, as it immediately suggested that Pogba is miffed with his role in the United team.
When it came to the meat of the chat, Pogba was slammed for not living up to his box-to-box billing.
Specifically, Pogba was criticised for failed to perform well defensively in the recent defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League.

Mourinho on Pogba
Before the Huddersfield match, Jose Mourinho told BT Sports that he didn’t care that Pogba wasn’t available as he had to focus on the game ahead.
After the match Mourinho expanded more on the situation. He confirmed that Pogba was in line to play against Huddersfield, but Mourinho had to switch his plans on the orders of the club doctors.
Moreover, the Special One made light of the situation with the press as he revealed that Pogba was set to play on the left side in a 4-3-3 formation.
Pogba excelled in that position for Juventus, and many have been calling for the midfielder to get the opportunity to shine in that role again.
Man United are back in action in midweek. They take on Sevilla in the Champions League last-16 first leg.
