Liverpool 2 – Sevilla 2
After losing 5-0 at Manchester City on Saturday, Liverpool were held to a frustrating draw by Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Despite Sevilla taking an early lead via Wissam Ben Yedder, Liverpool could well have (fortunately) wrapped up the game by half-time.
Goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah but Liverpool in charge. Had the Brazilian converted his penalty for 3-1 three minutes before the break, Jurgen Klopp’s side would have been strong favourites.
In the second half, Sevilla equalised through Joaquin Correa and could have won it late on with Luis Muriel spurning a great chance.
Joe Gomez sent off late on v Sevilla
Besides the draw, Liverpool also lost a man for their next Champions League game at Spartak Moscow, with Joe Gomez sent off on 94 minutes.
Gomes picked up two yellow cards and will be suspended for one game.
After the match, Gomez apologised to the Liverpool support on Instagram.
Joe Gomez takes aim at a Liverpool team mate Dejan Lovren
Joe Gomez’s Instagram activity did not stop there and the Liverpool defender may have landed himself in trouble with a couple of likes on the social media platform.
One comment liked by Gomez went as follows: “Can you f***ing start playing centre back. I’m sick of Lovren playing in the centre.”
Dejan Lovren was widely criticised for a poor performance for Liverpool against Sevilla. The Croatian defender appeared to be at fault for the opening goal of the game.

Gomez also liked a message on Instagram suggesting he should have punched the Sevilla manager Eduardo Berizzo.
The 20-year-old defender was unlikely to play for Liverpool against Burnley on Saturday with Trent Alexander Arnold expected to play.
Gomez may now find himself in trouble with Liverpool and Dejan Lovren is unlikely to miss this piece of social media news.
